adidas opened a record meeting at its own front door, the season ended in grief and a New York first — and the postponed Games, raced in federation kit, belong to other pages. Four hours of the 2021 clock hold the team's story.
The team moment of the year came in November: Peres Jepchirchir won the New York City Marathon in adidas, and Albert Korir made it an adidas one-two on the men's side. The Games of that August were a different contract — Jepchirchir's Sapporo marathon was run in Kenya's federation kit, and the Ethiopia squad adidas dresses raced Tokyo in its own federation issue — and they are told in our country pages, not here.
Racing shorts are lightweight split-seam shorts built for track and road racing: a woven shell of roughly 64–92 grams, a built-in brief liner instead of underwear, and an open outer seam that frees the leg at full stride.
The split itself has a birthday. British marathoner Ron Hill tore his side seams open in frustration, won the 1970 Boston Marathon, and founded Ronhill that September to sell the fix. Every race-issued pair in this archive descends from that pair of scissors.
