The Netherlands' 2024 season peaked at the Paris Olympics with six athletics medals — two gold, one silver, three bronze — and every one of them carried the stamp of Sifan Hassan or Femke Bol.

It sealed the Dutch boom in three data points: one athletics medal at Rio 2016, eight at Tokyo, six in Paris — with two golds at each of the last two Games. What in 2016 was one sprinter alone is now a programme.

Hassan: three finals, three medals

Sifan Hassan entered three events and medalled in all three.

Bronze in the 5000m final on 5 August (14:30.61). Bronze in the 10,000m on 9 August (30:44.12). And then, 37 hours later, the marathon: she outsprinted Tigst Assefa down the final straight to win in 2:22:55, an Olympic record, by three seconds — the narrowest women's Olympic marathon finish ever. An Ethiopian protest for obstruction was dismissed by the jury.

No athlete had medalled over 5000m, 10,000m and marathon at one Games since Emíl Zátopek won all three in 1952 — and no woman had ever done it. She was named World Athlete of the Year for 2024. The programme, race by race:

Bol: the anchor leg and three more

The other gold was built on one lap.

In the mixed 4×400m final on 3 August, Femke Bol took the baton in fourth place and ran the field down — past Belgium, then Great Britain and the USA in the final 100m — to win in 3:07.43, a European record, two hundredths off the world record the Americans had set in the heats the day before.

Bol added 400m hurdles bronze (52.15) behind Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone's world record 50.37, and anchored the women's 4×400m to silver in a national record 3:19.50. Three medals for her, three for Hassan — six for the Netherlands.

The kit: Netherlands Pro Elite 2024

In our archive, the Dutch 2024 shelf holds the Netherlands Pro Elite 2024 programme — race-issued Asics team kit from the Olympic cycle, carrying the OLY designation. Asics has been the Dutch athletics federation's apparel partner since 2006.

What “Pro Elite” means here. Pro Elite pieces are issued to the athletes through the team channel: cut, weight and finishing specified for competition, in a run limited to what the squad receives. When a piece leaves that channel it is not replaced.

The 2024 Dutch rail is the smallest in the archive — a single piece, the Olympic-issue tee. What is here is shown below; for the rest of the Dutch range, the full collection is a click away.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many athletics medals did the Netherlands win at the Paris 2024 Olympics?

What exactly was Sifan Hassan's triple in Paris?

She medalled in three events: 5000m bronze (14:30.61), 10,000m bronze (30:44.12) and marathon gold in an Olympic record 2:22:55 — run just 37 hours after the 10,000m. She is the first athlete since Emíl Zátopek in 1952, and the first woman ever, to do it.

Did the Dutch mixed relay set the world record?

No — that is the fine print. The USA set the world record (3:07.41) in the heats; the Netherlands won the final the next day in 3:07.43, a European record, two hundredths shy, with Femke Bol coming from fourth on the anchor leg.

Was Paris 2024 the Netherlands' best-ever athletics Games?
