Berlin, August 2018: the Netherlands took eight medals at the European Championships and seven of them were won by women. Sifan Hassan won the 5,000m in a championship record 14:46.12, and Dafne Schippers took silver over 200m and bronze over 100m. Every piece we hold from that Asics Netherlands cycle is from the women's kit — the archive happens to match the season.

Half tights are fitted compression shorts ending at mid-thigh, worn as the outer racing garment by sprinters and, increasingly, elite marathoners. They exist for fit — zero loose fabric, zero chafe, a locked-in feel from the blocks — not for proven speed.
That last part matters: across 51 randomized studies, compression garments show no significant effect on race times. What they measurably do is damp muscle vibration while you run and nudge recovery afterwards. The rest of their argument is made of fit, and it is a good argument.
