Doha 2019 was Germany's last strong World Championships: six medals, two of them gold, from 65 athletes. Niklas Kaul won the decathlon at 21, the youngest world champion the event has had, and Malaika Mihambo took the long jump with a world-leading 7.30m — the first German to win that title since Heike Drechsler in 1993.
