Rosa & Co. · 2020 season

The Record Cascade

The oldest Rosa & Co. kit in our archive comes from the group's hottest streak: three seasons in which its athletes took a sixteen-year-old world record apart in Chicago, won London twice over and stacked half marathon records like firewood.

2019 opened with Ruth Chepngetich's 2:17:08 course record in Dubai in January; what she did in Doha that autumn was done in Kenya's federation kit and lives in our Kenya 2019 page. On 13 October Brigid Kosgei, raised in the group's Kapsait camp, ran 2:14:04 in Chicago: Paula Radcliffe's world record, 16 years old, gone by 81 seconds. Kosgei had already won London that spring as the youngest champion in the race's history.

Doha 2019

Chicago 2019
Kosgei 2:14:04 world record — Radcliffe's mark, 16 years old, gone by 81 s
London
Kosgei wins 2019 and the 2020 bubble — youngest champion, then defender
Sapporo 2021
Kosgei: London 2019 and 2020 — the youngest champion in the race's history

The team's half-zip

A half-zip jersey is the mid layer of an issued athletics kit: a stretch polyester knit with a high collar and a sternum-length zip, worn for cold-weather training and around the stadium.

The zip is the point: a quarter open over a warm-up, closed to the chin in a cold call room. It is the only garment in the kit with a thermostat, and the most wearable piece a team ever issues.

The warmth
0.34 clo — a thin jacket is 0.36; the half-zip is 0.02 behind
Fabric
Polyester + elastane — 14 of 16 in this archive declare the blend
The reach
This rail spans 2014 to 2026 — jerseys outlive their kits
