The 2018 season in short
The Dutch athletics season of 2018 came down to six days in Berlin. At the European Championships from 7 to 12 August, the Netherlands won eight medals — one gold, three silver and four bronze.
Seven of those eight came in women's events. The single men's medal was the 4×100m relay bronze. That balance is the reason this post exists in the shape it does: the Dutch 2018 kit we hold is the women's kit, and 2018 was, on the results, a women's season for Dutch athletics.
Berlin: eight medals, seven of them women's
Sifan Hassan won the only Dutch gold, taking the 5000m in a championship record 14:46.12 on the final evening.

Dafne Schippers took three of the eight: silver in the 200m in 22.14, bronze in the 100m in 10.99, and silver in the 4×100m relay with Jamile Samuel, Naomi Sedney and Marije van Hunenstijn. Samuel added a bronze of her own in the 200m, so the Dutch had two women on that podium.

Susan Krumins was second in the 10,000m in 31:52.55, and Lisanne de Witte third in the 400m in 50.77. The men's 4×100m quartet of Taymir Burnet, Chris Garia, Churandy Martina and Hensley Paulina ran 38.03 for bronze.
Dutch medals at Berlin 2018 — data table

| 10,000m | Silver | Susan Krumins | 31:52.55 | W |
| 5000m | Gold | Sifan Hassan | 14:46.12 | W |
| 4x100m | Silver | Women’s relay | 42.15 | W |
| 4x100m | Bronze | Men’s relay | 38.03 | M |
| 400m | Bronze | Lisanne de Witte | 50.77 | W |
| 200m | Silver | Dafne Schippers | 22.14 | W |
| 200m | Bronze | Jamile Samuel | 22.37 | W |
| 100m | Bronze | Dafne Schippers | 10.99 | W |
Two of those marks were national records on the night, and neither is now. De Witte's 50.77 stood as the Dutch 400m record until Femke Bol ran 50.56 in May 2021; Bol has since taken it to 49.44 outdoors. The men's relay record of 38.03 lasted longer, but the Dutch team lowered it again in Madrid in June 2025.
Of the athletes on that list, Dafne Schippers has since retired. Sifan Hassan kept going in the other direction: three medals at the Tokyo Olympics, and the Olympic marathon title in Paris in 2024 in an Olympic record 2:22:55.
The kit: Asics Netherlands Pro Elite 2018
The Dutch team raced 2018 in the Asics Netherlands Pro Elite 2018 cycle. Asics was the federation supplier for that period, which makes this rail different from most of our archive: the majority of Pro Elite kit we handle is Nike or adidas.
Every piece in this rail is from the women's kit. That is not a curation choice, it is what came out of the team channel. It also happens to line up with the season: seven of the eight Dutch medals in Berlin were won in women's events.
The cycle covers a full competition and travel wardrobe: competition briefs and shortly tights, capri and full long tights, short pants, a T-shirt and a long-sleeve, the jacket, and both the standard and Storm tracksuits.

Eight: one gold, three silver and four bronze, at the championships held in Berlin from 7 to 12 August 2018.
Who won the Dutch gold medal in Berlin?
Sifan Hassan, in the 5000m, in a championship record of 14:46.12. It was the only Dutch gold of those championships.
How many medals did Dafne Schippers win in 2018?
Three: silver in the 200m (22.14), bronze in the 100m (10.99) and silver in the 4×100m relay (42.15). Schippers has since retired from athletics.
Are the Dutch records set in Berlin 2018 still standing?
No, neither of them. Lisanne de Witte's 50.77 was the Dutch 400m record until Femke Bol ran 50.56 in May 2021, and Bol has since gone to 49.44 outdoors. The men's 4×100m relay record of 38.03 was beaten again by a Dutch team in Madrid in June 2025.
Why is the 2018 Netherlands kit made by Asics?
Asics was the supplier to the Dutch federation for that cycle. Most Pro Elite kit in our archive is Nike or adidas, which makes the Asics Netherlands 2018 pieces an unusual set.
Why are all the 2018 Netherlands pieces women's?
Because that is what came out of the team channel for this cycle. These are athlete-issued pieces, so the rail is whatever left the federation, not a selection made to order.
