What “NN Running Team 2023” Means
A 2023 date on NN Running Team kit places it in the deepest cycle of the team's whole nine-year life: seventeen pieces reached our archive, ten of them carrying the INEOS double branding, all of them from a season that turned out to be the high-water mark of the NN era. The 2023 season packed a world marathon title, a record fifth Berlin win, the loss of the world record and the departure of a founding member into three months. The kit those months were lived in — the rust travel wardrobe, the gradient crops, the triple-branded jackets — is what this cycle is.

Budapest: The Team's Championship
The cycle's championship was the Budapest World Championships in August. Victor Kiplangat, out of the team's training group in Kapchorwa under coach Addy Ruiter, won the marathon world title in 2:08:53 — only the second in Uganda's history. On the track, Letesenbet Gidey took silver in the 10,000 m, confirming that the record generation of 2020–21 was still racing at the front.
Kit-wise, Budapest is where the 2023 wardrobe did its most visible work: rust tracksuits in the call room, white-and-orange race kit on the track, INEOS on every warm-up layer. Our Uganda archive carries Kiplangat's line in the national story.
Berlin, Chicago and the End of an Era
On 24 September, Eliud Kipchoge won Berlin for the fifth time — a number no marathoner had ever reached there — in what proved to be his final season as world record holder. Two weeks later in Chicago, Kelvin Kiptum, never a team member, ran 2:00:35 and took the record Kipchoge had owned since 2018. The 2023 cycle is therefore the last kit the team raced as holders of the marathon world record.
October brought a second ending: Kenenisa Bekele, founding member and the 2:01:41 man of Berlin 2019, left for a Chinese brand deal. Seen from the January 2026 rename, the 2023 season is where the NN era's final chapter opened — which is exactly what gives this cycle's kit its weight in the archive.

Visually, 2023 is the team's most distinctive year. The travel wardrobe moved to brick rust — tracksuits, jackets, pants and hoods in a burnt red-brown no other squad wore — with NN, Swoosh and INEOS sharing the chest. The racing layer kept the founding white and orange but softened it: the year's crop tops fade from white into orange in a printed gradient, and the accessories ran to peach knit calf sleeves and red INEOS long tights.
Ten of the seventeen archive pieces carry the INEOS mark, which matters doubly now: INEOS closed its chapter with the team at the end of the NN era, so the triple-branded 2023 garments are sealed from both directions. Why are 2023 pieces double-branded INEOS X Nike?
The team's performance partnership with INEOS, signed in January 2022 out of the Vienna 1:59 relationship, put the INEOS mark on team garments through the 2022 and 2023 cycles. INEOS closed its chapter with the team at the end of the NN era, sealing the double-branded line at both ends.
What did the team win in 2023?
Victor Kiplangat won the world marathon title in Budapest (2:08:53) and Letesenbet Gidey took 10,000 m silver there; Eliud Kipchoge won a record fifth Berlin Marathon in September. In October, Kelvin Kiptum — not a team member — took the marathon world record, and founding member Kenenisa Bekele left the team.
