The Season: Paris by Five Thousandths
The championship this kit was built for delivered one of the closest blue-riband finishes ever run. Noah Lyles — who had renewed with adidas in February 2024 on what his agency called the richest track deal since Usain Bolt — took the Olympic 100 m title by 0.005 seconds over Kishane Thompson, then ran the 200 m final with COVID and still left with bronze.
The distance side of the stable carried its own weight: Tigst Assefa took Olympic marathon silver in the adidas kit of the Ethiopian federation, one of three federations — with Team GB and France — that raced Paris in adidas. RHEON: The Cycle's Technology
The 2024 generation introduced RHEON to athletics kit: a strain-reactive polymer from London's Rheon Labs that stays soft at rest and stiffens under sudden deformation, absorbing energy exactly when the body needs it damped. adidas had launched it in apparel that April in a sports bra built with the University of Portsmouth's breast-biomechanics group, then printed it into the Team GB, France and Ethiopia sprint suits for Paris — visible as dark swirl panels over legs, back and chest.
The athlete-issue pieces of the cycle carry the same signature: black concentric swirls printed over the violet tights and half tights, and RHEON-panelled singlets and arm sleeves. Four RHEON pieces have reached our archive — the fastest-recognised tell of the whole cycle.

Visually, 2024 is the most coherent cycle adidas has issued in years. The base is a two-tone of violet and ink black; the performance logo lands in volt green on the racing bottoms and shock pink on the darker pieces; lilac and periwinkle turn up in waistbands and side panels. Arm sleeves come laser-perforated in black with a pink mark. Set beside the mint-and-navy of 2023 or the red-and-black of 2025, a Paris-cycle piece identifies itself across a room.

The cycle's year also ran through Herzogenaurach: the fourth Adizero: Road to Records meeting, on the campus roads, where Emmanuel Wanyonyi broke the road mile world record at 3:54.56 — ratified by World Athletics, and since lowered elsewhere. The event is the purest expression of what this kit exists for: contracted athletes, pace lights, and garments issued for one weekend of record attempts.
