The Year of the Adios Pro 3
The 2022 adidas cycle belongs to a shoe and the roads it won. The Adizero Adios Pro 3 was shown for the first time on 30 April at Road to Records, the record meeting adidas stages on its own campus in Herzogenaurach, went on sale in June, and by November had carried three marathon major winners home. By the brand's own count, ADIZERO athletes won half of the year's majors. This page reads that thread; the kit below is what the same athletes were issued to race in.

Boston, Herzogenaurach and the Autumn Roads
The season opened in Boston on 18 April, the first Patriots' Day edition since 2019, and adidas won both races: Evans Chebet in 2:06:51, thirty seconds clear, and Peres Jepchirchir in 2:21:01, four seconds ahead of Ababel Yeshaneh in the 50th women's race — twelve months after her New York title. Twelve days later, at Road to Records, Yomif Kejelcha ran 12:55 for 5 km, then the third-fastest ever, Yemaneberhan Crippa set a European record of 13:14 behind him, Senbere Teferi won the women's race in 14:37, and the Adios Pro 3 made its first public appearance on the runners' feet.
The autumn belonged to the marathon majors. Tigist Assefa — adidas, in her second marathon ever — won Berlin on 25 September in 2:15:37, a course record by two and a half minutes, with a negative split; Amos Kipruto won London on 2 October in 2:04:39 and Benson Kipruto Chicago a week later in 2:04:24, both in the Adios Pro 3; and on 6 November Chebet won New York in 2:08:41, the first man since 2013 to take Boston and New York in the same year. On the track, the circuit closed in Zürich on 7 and 8 September with two adidas meeting records and two Diamond League trophies: Noah Lyles's 19.52 for 200 m and Tobi Amusan's 12.29 over the hurdles. And on the business side, the French federation returned to adidas as its kit supplier from 1 January 2022, after eight years in Asics.
What Lyles and Amusan did at the Eugene World Championships that July — his 19.31 in the Nike kit of USATF, her 12.12 world record in Nigeria's federation kit — was done in other contracts and lives in the country pages, not in this kit's story.

The 2022 cycle runs white-to-black gradients and hard colour-blocking: ombré singlets, block-panel bras, and competition briefs with the three stripes in sky blue or volt against black — the most graphic year between the camo of 2021 and the mint-navy of 2023.
Construction follows the athlete-issue rules our authentication guide covers: competition-weight cloth, race cuts, no retail run. “Pro Elite” is the collector market's label — adidas itself doesn't use it.

What did adidas athletes win in 2022?
Both Boston races (Evans Chebet and Peres Jepchirchir), Berlin (Tigist Assefa, 2:15:37 course record), London (Amos Kipruto), Chicago (Benson Kipruto) and New York (Chebet again, the first Boston–New York double since 2013) — half the year's marathon majors by the brand's count — plus the Zürich Diamond League trophies of Noah Lyles and Tobi Amusan. The second edition of the record meeting adidas stages on its Herzogenaurach campus, on 30 April 2022: Yomif Kejelcha ran 12:55 for 5 km, Yemaneberhan Crippa set a European record of 13:14, Senbere Teferi won the women's 5 km in 14:37, and the Adizero Adios Pro 3 was seen in public for the first time, two months before it went on sale.
