Adidas Pro Elite
2021
4 athlete-issue pieces from the 2021 cycle live in our archive — the season this page reads, result by result, before it reads the cloth.
Adidas Pro Elite 2021 is the 2021-season generation of adidas athlete-issue kit — issued to contracted athletes and federation squads, never sold at retail, and dated by cycle like everything in the athlete channel.
This page reads the season first — what adidas and the athletes in its kit actually did that year, verified result by result — then the cycle's design, and every piece of it in our archive.
Part of our Brand Series — the full story is in The History of Adidas Pro Elite. Jump to the full cycle collection or browse the category.

The Year on One Clock
adidas opened a record meeting at its own front door, the season ended in grief and a New York first — and the postponed Games, raced in federation kit, belong to other pages. Four hours of the 2021 clock hold the team's story.
The clock (table)
| When | What happened |

| AUG 2021 | The Games, raced in federation kit – told in the country pages |
| SEP 2021 | Road to Records opens: Tirop 30:01 WR, Teferi 14:29 WR |

| NOV 2021 | Jepchirchir wins New York — Olympic + NYC in one year, a first; adidas one-two with Korir |
Herzogenaurach, Iten, New York

The team moment of the year came in November: Peres Jepchirchir won the New York City Marathon in adidas, and Albert Korir made it an adidas one-two on the men's side. The Games of that August were a different contract — Jepchirchir's Sapporo marathon was run in Kenya's federation kit, and the Ethiopia squad adidas dresses raced Tokyo in its own federation issue — and they are told in our country pages, not here.
In September adidas switched on Adizero: Road to Records in Herzogenaurach, and the first edition produced two world records — Agnes Tirop's women-only 30:01 over 10 km and Senbere Teferi's 14:29 over 5 km. A month later Tirop was killed at her home in Iten, aged 25; her accused husband was charged, pleaded not guilty and has been at large since 2025, and nobody has been convicted. The foundation her fellow athletes built in answer — Tirop's Angels — runs through the rest of this brand's story, and through the 2023 long sleeve in our archive. The 2021 cycle is the camo year: grey-black and blue leopard camo across briefs and split shorts, lit by volt-yellow waistbands, stripe tape and logos — the loudest kit adidas had issued in years, for the season the calendar came back to life.
Construction follows the athlete-issue rules our authentication guide covers: competition-weight cloth, race cuts, no retail run. “Pro Elite” is the collector market's label — adidas itself doesn't use it.

Athlete-issue adidas kit from the 2021 season — the camo cycle: grey-black and blue leopard camo with volt-yellow accents. Four pieces live in our archive.
What did adidas athletes win in 2021?
In adidas: Peres Jepchirchir won the New York City Marathon in an adidas one-two with Albert Korir, and the first Road to Records meeting produced world records for Agnes Tirop and Senbere Teferi.
What is Road to Records?
adidas's own world-record meeting, run on its Herzogenaurach campus roads since 12 September 2021. Tirop's 30:01 at the first edition stood until 2025 — when Agnes Ngetich broke it at the same event.
How do I recognise a 2021 adidas athlete-issue piece?
The camo: grey-black or blue leopard print on briefs and split shorts, with volt-yellow waistbands, logos and three-stripe tape. No other adidas cycle uses it.
