Adidas Pro Elite
2023

10 athlete-issue pieces from the 2023 cycle live in our archive — the season this page reads, result by result, before it reads the cloth.

Adidas Pro Elite 2023 is the 2023-season generation of adidas athlete-issue kit — issued to contracted athletes and federation squads, never sold at retail, and dated by cycle like everything in the athlete channel.

This page reads the season first — what adidas and the athletes in its kit actually did that year, verified result by result — then the cycle's design, and every piece of it in our archive.

Part of our Brand Series — the full story is in The History of Adidas Pro Elite. Jump to the full cycle collection or browse the category.

The Chain Year

2023 gave adidas a chain of its own: a shoe launched in 521 pairs, a world record in Berlin ten days later, and the cause the year's most meaningful garment carries. The championships of August were raced in federation kit and belong to other pages. Three links, one season.

From the Launch to Berlin

The championships of August were the federations' month: what Noah Lyles did in Budapest was done in the Nike kit of USATF, and the Ethiopia squad adidas dresses raced in its federation issue — results that live in our country pages, not in this kit's story.

Then September: adidas launched the 138-gram Adizero Adios Pro Evo 1 on the 14th — 521 pairs worldwide — and ten days later Tigst Assefa wore it to 2:11:53 in Berlin, taking more than two minutes off the marathon world record. The mark has since been passed as the absolute record, but as a season-closing statement it has no equal in the brand's modern history. The same year, adidas put its weight publicly behind Tirop's Angels — which is where the most meaningful garment of this cycle comes from.

The Kit of the Cycle

The 2023 cycle pairs mint and petrol green with navy, pops of magenta and cyan on logos and side stripes, and tonal wave prints on the half tights. Its most important piece is the mint Tirop's Angels long sleeve — the garment that carries the foundation's name.

Construction follows the athlete-issue rules our authentication guide covers: competition-weight cloth, race cuts, no retail run. “Pro Elite” is the collector market's label — adidas itself doesn't use it.
