WHAT KIPYEGON
WEARS
One brand, three wardrobes. Faith Kipyegon races in Nike at the Olympics, at Diamond League meetings and, once, in a suit built for her alone. This is every verified detail of her kit and spikes, and what a fan can and cannot buy.
Faith Kipyegon wears Nike, and has for her whole senior career: by her own account the brand has backed her since 2010. She races in three different Nike wardrobes. At championships it is the Kenya national kit, at Diamond League meetings a sponsor kit that changes colour every season, and once, on 26 June 2025, a one-of-one Fly Suit built for her attempt at a four-minute mile.
On her feet it is Nike's Victory line. Nike names the Victory 2 for her mile world record of 2023 and her Olympic title of 2024, and built the bespoke Victory Elite FK for Breaking4. A production version of that spike went on sale in May 2026 at US$400 and is on the World Athletics approved list.
This post is part of our About the Athletes series. For the brand behind the kit read The History of Nike Pro Elite, for her record summer Nike Pro Elite 2023, or jump straight to the Nike athlete issue in the archive.

One brand, three wardrobes
Most athletes in this series change brand when they pull on a national vest. Kipyegon does not. Athletics Kenya says Nike has supplied the federation and the Kenyan Olympic committee since 1993, under a deal that runs to 2028, so the swoosh is on her chest at a Diamond League meeting and in an Olympic final alike. What changes is the garment.
The national kit is the easy one to spot: KENYA across the chest, a flag patch, a number on the hip. In Budapest in 2023 it was a red and black geometric print outlined in green, worn with bright pink spikes. In Paris in 2024 it faded from orange-red at the shoulder to green at the hem, over maroon short tights and orange spikes, and she wore the same family in Tokyo a year later.

Her meeting kit carries no country at all. It is the Nike athlete issue of that season, the colour story handed to the company's contracted runners, and it turns over every year: white with black broken stripes through the record summer of 2023, olive-gold in 2024, white over black with a gold swoosh in 2025. The name on the bib belongs to the meeting, not to a federation.

Both photographs here show the national vest, and that is not a choice. No freely licensed picture of her in sponsor kit exists, so the sponsor colours in the chart were read from press photographs we looked at and cannot reproduce. The third wardrobe was worn exactly once, and it has its own section.
Nike since 2010
By her own account Nike has backed her since 2010, when she was a junior who had made her international debut barefoot and who chose to win a Kenyan junior cross country title barefoot in 2011. She was first given spikes at 14 and has said it took her a long time to feel as comfortable in them as without. Nike's own copy in 2025 counts the partnership as fifteen years in one place and sixteen in another. The terms have never been published.
She sits on the Nike Athlete Think Tank, the group of athletes the company consults on product and on women's sport, and in June 2025 she got her own retail collection: Pegasus and Alphafly road shoes, a Victory 2 spike and AeroSwift apparel, in purple with the red and green of the Kenyan flag. Each shoe carries a double swoosh that Nike ties to her bond with her daughter, and the initials FK double as Fastest Known.
She trains in Kaptagat under Patrick Sang, in the camp that is home to the dsm-firmenich Running Team, the squad known until January 2026 as the NN Running Team, and she is managed by the agency that founded it. She is not a member. It is a road-running team, and the sixteen names on its roster in September 2026 do not include hers. We cover that team in The History of the NN Running Pro Elite Team and dsm-firmenich Pro Elite 2026.
The spikes: Victory, then Victory Elite
Nike names one model for her two biggest days. The Victory 2, its middle-distance spike with a Zoom Air unit under the forefoot and a full-length carbon plate, is the shoe Nike credits for the mile world record in Monaco in July 2023 and for the Olympic 1500 m title in Paris in 2024; the Telegraph's spike survey during the Games says the same. On the World Athletics approved list the retail Victory 2 carries a release date of 11 April 2024.
The pair with the best story is a different one. The bright pink spikes she wore to win the 5000 m in Budapest in 2023, the second half of the first 1500 and 5000 double at a World Championships, now sit in the Museum of World Athletics with her signature on the midsole. World Athletics does not name the model.
For Breaking4 Nike built her a spike of her own, the Victory Elite FK: a taller Air Zoom unit, six titanium pins set into the carbon plate instead of screwed in, and a Flyknit upper Nike puts at about 60 per cent lighter than the Victory 2's, on a last with a wider forefoot at her request. A production version, the Air Zoom Victory Elite, reached a handful of specialist shops in May 2026 at US$400. It is on the World Athletics approved list from 1 March 2026 and is not classed as a development shoe, so it is legal in competition. The category is explained in Middle Distance Spikes.
For most of her races the model is simply not on record. That includes both of her 1500 m world records run outside Monaco, the Tokyo title and everything she ran in 2026. We give colours where a photograph shows them and leave the model blank.
The one-off: 26 June 2025
On 26 June 2025, at Stade Charléty in Paris, Kipyegon tried to run a mile in under four minutes in a kit that existed in a single copy. Nike's Fly Suit was a one-piece from below the neck to about the knee, with separate arm sleeves, leg sleeves and a headband in a lighter fabric, covered in 3D-printed half-sphere Aeronodes, some smaller than a pencil tip. The suit itself is close to colourless; Nike says the Aeronodes were made in a colour-shifting purple because purple is her favourite colour, and the stadium was dressed to match. A high neckline was tried and dropped because it felt restrictive.
Underneath was the FlyWeb bra, printed in one seamless layer of TPU and denser where support was needed, which Nike describes as its first 3D-printed performance apparel made for an athlete.
She ran 4:06.42, with splits of 1:00.20, 2:00.75 and 3:01.84: the fastest mile ever by a woman, and not eligible for records, because she was paced by men. One footnote is worth keeping. The coach and author Steve Magness reported that the stadium clock first showed 4:06.91 and that the published time removes her reaction at the start, which ordinary track timing does not do. Nike and World Athletics both use 4:06.42.
Her verdict on the suit, as Nike tells it: “I felt like a superhero.” She also asked whether she could race in it for the rest of the season. Fifteen months later Nike built the next one, with a hood, for Keely Hodgkinson, which we take apart in Hodgkinson's One-of-One Speed Suit.
What she holds today
Two world records are hers today: the 1500 m, 3:48.68 in Eugene on 5 July 2025, and the mile, 4:07.64 in Monaco on 21 July 2023. Her 5000 m record of 2023 is gone. Gudaf Tsegay took it that September and Beatrice Chebet ran 13:58.06 on the same Eugene afternoon as Kipyegon's 1500, eighty minutes earlier, which is the day we cover in Nike Pro Elite 2025. Over 3000 m she has come within about a second of a mark from 1993, with 8:07.04 in Silesia in August 2025.
Her 2026 was shorter. She made her road debut with a 10 km in Monaco in February, which she described as a first step towards the marathon, won a 5000 in Keqiao in May, and then lost a Diamond League race for the first time in four years, third in the Prefontaine mile behind Nikki Hiltz. On 19 August she ended her season with a hamstring injury she had carried since late May. She is 32 and no return date has been given.
What you can and cannot buy
Start with what Nike sells. The Faith Kipyegon collection of June 2025 was a seasonal drop and has largely left Nike's own site. The Victory 2 in her colourway, style IB4202-600, launched at US$190. The Air Zoom Victory Elite, the production descendant of her Breaking4 spike, costs US$400, and every size was unavailable at the stockist we checked on 21 September 2026.
Now what it does not. The Fly Suit, the FlyWeb bra and her own Breaking4 spikes are one-offs, and the Budapest pair is in a museum. We also found no retail listing for the two garments she actually spends her seasons in, the Nike sponsor two-piece and the athlete-issue Kenya vest.
Kit of that kind is what this archive deals in: pieces issued to Nike's contracted athletes, which surface only when they leave the team channel. Two of them come from the same 2023 season as her three world records, in jade and dark green with a pink swoosh where hers was white and black.

Nike. By her own account the brand has backed her since 2010, and Nike also makes the Kenya national kit she wears at championships. The terms of her contract have never been published.
What spikes does Faith Kipyegon wear?
Nike's Victory line. Nike names the Victory 2 for her mile world record in 2023 and her Olympic 1500 m title in 2024, and built a bespoke Victory Elite FK for her Breaking4 mile in June 2025. For most of her other races the model has not been reported.
Can you buy Faith Kipyegon's spikes?
In production form, yes. A Victory 2 in her colourway (IB4202-600) launched at US$190 in June 2025, and the Air Zoom Victory Elite, the production version of her Breaking4 spike, went on sale in May 2026 at US$400. Her own pairs are not for sale, and one of them is in the Museum of World Athletics.
What did Faith Kipyegon wear for Breaking4?
A one-of-one Nike Fly Suit covered in 3D-printed Aeronodes, with separate arm sleeves, leg sleeves and a headband, a 3D-printed FlyWeb bra underneath and bespoke Victory Elite FK spikes. She ran 4:06.42 on 26 June 2025, which is not eligible for records.
Who makes the Kenya athletics kit?
Nike. Athletics Kenya says Nike has supplied the federation and the Kenyan Olympic committee since 1993 under a deal that runs to 2028.
Is Faith Kipyegon in the NN Running Team?
No. She trains in the same Kaptagat camp under Patrick Sang and shares the team's management agency, but she is not on the roster of the team, which was renamed the dsm-firmenich Running Team in January 2026.
