Nike Pro Elite 2023 is the 2023 generation of Nike's athlete-issue competition kit: forest green and mint with a shocking-pink Swoosh, issued to contracted athletes and never sold at retail.

The Cycle of the Burst
Every cycle has a headline athlete; 2023's wrote hers in seven weeks. Between 2 June and 21 July, Faith Kipyegon — a Nike athlete since her teens — broke three world records in 49 days, all of them at Diamond League meetings in her own race kit: Florence, Paris, Monaco. In September she closed the circuit by winning the Diamond League final in Eugene in 3:50.72.

Kiptum, Hassan, Kipchoge
The roads belonged to a 23-year-old in Nike shoes. On 23 April Kelvin Kiptum won London in 2:01:25, a course record sixteen seconds outside the world record, with Geoffrey Kamworor of the NN Running Team second in 2:04:23; the same morning Sifan Hassan — Nike — won her marathon debut in 2:18:33 after stopping to stretch a leg at the hour mark. On 8 October in Chicago they did it again: Kiptum ran 2:00:35, a world record by 34 seconds, with a second half of 59:47 that was faster than his first; Hassan ran 2:13:44, then the second-fastest marathon by a woman and a European record. World Athletics ratified Kiptum's record on 6 February 2024. He was killed in a road accident five days later, at 24, with his coach Gervais Hakizimana. The record stood until Sabastian Sawe's 1:59:30 in April 2026.
Eliud Kipchoge, the man Kiptum had displaced, had his hardest year and then his fifth Berlin. Sixth in Boston on 17 April in 2:09:23; then Berlin on 24 September in 2:02:42, a fifth win on the course where he had set both his records. The year also closed two long Nike stories: Kenenisa Bekele signed with Anta on 13 October after more than twenty years with the brand, and Grant Fisher left the Bowerman Track Club six days later. On 31 December Beatrice Chebet, of the Nike-outfitted Rosa & Co stable, ran 14:13 for 5 km in Barcelona, a women-only world record — the first of hers.

The 2023 generation pairs forest green with mint in two-tone sets, signed with a shocking-pink Swoosh: slot-knit crops, split shorts with contrast side panels, calf sleeves in both colourways and a deep-green parka over everything.
Construction follows the athlete-issue rules our authentication guide covers: competition-weight cloth, race cuts, no retail run. “Pro Elite” is the athlete-channel label collectors use — the programme Nike itself keeps off the shelves. What did Faith Kipyegon do in 2023?
Three world records in 49 days, all at Diamond League meetings — 1500 m (3:49.11, Florence), 5,000 m (14:05.20, Paris) and the mile (4:07.64, Monaco) — then the Diamond League final win in Eugene in 3:50.72. As of September 2026 the 1500 m record is still hers and the mile mark still stands.
What did Kelvin Kiptum run in 2023?
London on 23 April in 2:01:25, a course record, and Chicago on 8 October in 2:00:35, a world record by 34 seconds with a negative split — 59:47 for the second half. He raced in Nike. The record was ratified on 6 February 2024; he died in a road accident five days later, aged 24. Sabastian Sawe surpassed the mark in April 2026.
